Complete Step-by-Step Guide

1. Download the Binary

Go to the Download page and get the latest prebuilt executable for your operating system (Windows recommended for beginners).

Extract the file to a folder, for example: C:\samloader

2. Open PowerShell as Administrator

cd C:\path\to\samloader-folder
.\samloader.exe --help

This confirms the tool is working.

3. Check Available Firmware

.\samloader.exe check-update --model SM-A705MN --region XSP

Important: Model and region codes are case-sensitive. Replace with your own device details.

4. Download Firmware (Auto Decrypt)

.\samloader.exe download --model SM-A705MN --region XSP --verbose

The tool uses multiple connections for fast speed and decrypts files automatically while downloading.

5. Verify MD5 (Recommended)

.\samloader.exe verify-md5 path\to\firmware.tar.md5

6. Detect Device in Download Mode

.\samloader.exe detect

Boot your phone into Download Mode (Volume Down + Bixby + Power on most models) and connect via USB.

7. Flash Firmware

.\samloader.exe flash path\to\firmware.tar.md5 --usb-backend libusb

If detection fails, try: --usb-backend vcom

Key Options & Tips

--verbose — Shows detailed progress and retry information
--usb-backend libusb (default) or vcom — Change if device detection fails
Downloads are multi-threaded and resumable — use stable connection for large files
If you get a Rust panic (e.g. history.xml), retry with exact model/region or run with RUST_BACKTRACE=1

Safety & Troubleshooting

Backup your data — Flashing can wipe user data
Use exact firmware matching your model and region
Wrong firmware can brick your device
If download fails: Try different time, switch CSC region, or use wired Ethernet
If flashing fails: Use dump-pit or print-pit commands first
